FLAG FOOTBALL  & CHEER OBJECTIVE

The primary purpose of the Youth Flag Football & Cheer program is to provide an opportunity for 5, 6 & 7 year olds of Lawrence & the Greater Merrimack Valley to participate and enjoy the game of football & Cheer in an organized, fun atmosphere. The FLAG Football & Cheer program is designed to educate young people about football & Cheer while emphasizing participation and sportsmanship. Players learn skills and lessons that help them succeed both on and off the field. We believe that players of this age should learn the fundamentals of the game in a fun & safe atmosphere before moving up to the tackle division. The program provides young players a fun and exciting opportunity to engage in non-contact, continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork.

WELCOME TO THE 2007 SEASON!!!!

On Monday July 30 the New Hampshire Youth Football & Spirit Conference season begins.  This is an exciting time for all as it means the long winters wait for football and cheer is over!

As the NHYFSC begins the 2007 season the State Board request all NHYFSC participants pause and consider the following important points to insure our season is a successful one for all;

a)      Adult Role Modeling is of paramount importance to the State Board and we presume it is for everyone else connected with the conference.  The vast majority of our volunteers have acted in a reasonable and appropriate manner and we expect this pattern will continue.  In the few instances when someone steps outside the boundaries of what is acceptable behavior any adult  closes to the scene needs to take action to address the matter.  Timeliness in addressing inappropriate behavior is important and we all share the responsibility of attempting to provide a positive environment for the participants.

b)      Volunteerism is the backbone of a successful association.  The associations are guided and managed by volunteers and there is always more room for more VOLUNTEERS!  For those of  you who have been volunteering as a local board member, concession help, or the many other needs THANK YOU!

c)      Academic Achievement Awards program will again be available to the football and cheer participants.  The NHYFSC and American Youth Football & American Youth Cheer are committed to fostering the importance of academic achievement.  Since the awards have been initiated 775 participants have been awarded certificates and 64 have been awarded scholarships totaling $58,000.

Best wishes for a successful 2007 season!!
